Research and Analysis of Link Explorer

Recently Moz introduced a new tool that is Link Explorer. So lets start with Link Explorer. It uncover content and link building opportunities, track your site's link profile over time and compare to competitors for intelligent, targeted link building.

You can say that is also a competitor of SemRush in near future. Moz remove the OSE link from the free seo tools tab, but you can check ose by the below link:

https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/

But there is a notification on that page which is:

"We have a new link research tool for you to try! Open Site Explorer will remain active for the time being, but we will not be updating its index anymore."

Don't worry, you can check all various details on Link Explorer, Get the data you need to do better link building research, smarter content ideation, and link prospecting - in less time with the help of this tool:
  1. Overview
  2. Inbound Links

  6. Discovered and Lost
  7. Compare Link Profiles

In this tool , new data is added every day, over 20x more link data than Open Site Explorer and Refined Authority algorithms. You can check here:

But you will have many questions in your mind regarding this new tool. I researched some point for you by that you can understand,  how things are going on.

As you may know, the Link Explorer project is the result of an incredible amount of perseverance and hard work by the team of Moz, and it’s going to revolutionize how you approach link building and make your job easier.

Link Explorer is the revised version of OSE that improves on almost every aspect of OSE, the metrics have improved. You will see some differences in Domain Authority and Page Authority between OSE’s index and Link Explorer’s index. Moz suggests to use the new DA/PA from Link Explorer, as the values are more accurate and refresh daily rather than monthly.

Which DA should used by you? (OSE or Link Explorer)

As per moz,  new DA is based on a larger index that has many improvements.  You should use the new DA because OSE DA's index won’t be updated after April 26th 2018. In the case of link explorer,  the larger link index with improved crawl selection allows us to produce a stronger model that includes a much larger proportion of the web. That being said, DA and PA should always be considered in the context of your competitors.

How can you explain this to your clients when you reporting it?

DA and PA should be considered in the context of competitors. For example:

For a campaign, DA of 45 to a DA of 42 doesn’t tell the whole story, but reporting that your site has a DA of 42 while your main competitor moved from a 43 to a 37 shows that, relative to the sites you’re competing against in the SERPs, your site has significantly more authority and ranking power.
